Aloft Dallas Downtown opens
A former historic railroad freight depot, built in 1924 as a Sante Fe Railroad terminal, is now home to the Aloft Dallas Downtown, which has 193 loft-like rooms.
“Through the redevelopment of historic or older structures, developers can gain access to the prime real estate to create an innovative and historically meaningful hotel, while benefiting from unique zoning opportunities and public subsidies,” says Simon Turner, president of global development, Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc. “We see great opportunities to use this approach in many cities throughout the world.”
The property features natural materials and is pursing LEED green building certification.
