Special Places: Orpheum Theater Center

orpheumWhen this early 20th century ornate and acoustical gem opened as a vaudeville house in 1913 it was the toast of Sioux Falls, if not all of South Dakota. After a recent $2 million restoration and renovation it remains a premier meeting and event spot, named to the National Register of Historic Places, and seats 688 in the original elegant theater for lectures and meetings. The adjacent former Rainbow Bar is now part of the center and home to the Anne Zabel Studio Theater, an ideal event space for up to 400, while the Orpheum Center also features a classroom accommodating up to 100. orpheum.sfarena.com
