Crises Management

Between the Gulf oil spill, the Arizona boycotts, the Nashville flood and other weather-related problems in the past few weeks, it’s been challenging to keep up with all the situation updates. Convention and Visitors Bureaus around the country have been proactive, sending almost constant news bulletins about existing or potential damages, event cancellations and preparations for expected developments. These actions demonstrate another positive result of the “Meetings Mean Business” campaign, which spurred the meetings and travel industry as a whole to step up their visibility and prove their contributions to the economy and their communities. They’ve matured and gained a new confidence, also reflected in the laudable way the Nashville CVB is handling its own crisis. Keith Johnston of OnSite Events, Inc. and PlannerWire.com says it best in his blog, “Nashville CVB comes through in crisis.”

We’ll continue to monitor destinations and keep you updated on this site and in our newsletter. We’d also like to hear from you if you or your events have been affected.
