Louisiana asks residents to show off state
The “Reel Louisiana” online campaign launched last week by the Louisiana Office of Tourism asks residents to submit photos and videos of their favorite attractions, events and experiences in the Pelican State. The goal of the campaign is to offset the negative effect from the oil spill on state tourism. Even though most of Louisiana has not been affected by the spill, negative perception has led to 29 percent of visitors postponing or canceling trips according to recent research.
The contributions, which can be submitted here or through Facebook and YouTube, will be featured on LouisianaTravel.com to show off the culture, beauty and attractions of the state to visitors. Visitors and residents can then view the pictures and videos and vote on which ones they like best.
“A majority of Louisiana is flourishing and visual documentation of these areas will provide a powerful demonstration of what visitors can expect,” said Assistant Secretary of Tourism Louisiana Jim Hutchinson.
