Matt Markins
Cofounder and Director/Director of Marketing and Sales, D6 Conference/Randall House
Nashville, Tennessee
Age: 35
When Matt Markins left his hometown of Kokomo, Ind., to attend Free Will Baptist Bible College, he fell in love with the Music City, met future wife Katie and never wanted to leave. Event planning began for him as a short-term mission coordinator for an international mission agency organizing weeklong training programs for students embarking on missions abroad. Besides a short stint at Thomas Nelson in 2006, Markins has been at Randall House since he was recruited to be the marketing and design manager in 2005. He co-founded D6 Conference in 2007 based on Randall House curriculum, and the first event was held in 2009. “The D6 conference is designed for leaders, churches, parents and volunteers,” Markins says. “It helps local churches develop discipleship and spiritual formation models that engage parents in the spiritual development of their children.” More than 2,100 attendees attended this year’s three-day event in Frisco, Texas, in September. When he’s not filling his time with marketing and developing creative and content for the conference, he enjoys carpentry, as well as antiquing with his wife and cheering on the NFL’s Titans with sons Hudson, 7, and Warren, 9. —R. What inspires you to do your job?
“My two sons. Knowing that I’m watching two kids from the next generation grow up right before my eyes is an inspiration for my wife and me.”

People like Matt Markins who live out what they “teach” both in their local church and their neighborhood. It’s one thing to endorse a concept but another to live it out at home, church and in your neighborhood! Matt manages to do this with a smile and a word of encouragement for everyone he encounters!
