Airlines must show fees in advertised fares
A new airline policy takes off Jan. 26, when the Department of Transportation will require federal airlines to include all taxes and fees in advertised fares. When an airline or online booking site lists flight prices, they can no longer hide extra charges from the customer. Any checked-baggage fees must also be disclosed when a flight is booked. If passengers book at least a week in advance, they will now be able to hold a flight reservation for 24 hours with no payment required and no cancellation fees.
