Aloft coming to Tucson
The Four Points by Sheraton Tucson University Plaza will be converted into Aloft Tucson University after a total renovation. Scheduled to reopen in early 2013, the 150-room hotel is the closest to the University of Arizona, and also near shopping, dining and entertainment. More than 8,000 square feet of flexible meeting space will accommodate groups up to 350.
Aloft has 55 hotels around the world, and its first conversion project, Aloft San Francisco Airport, is set to open this fall. Conversions mean access to the brand in more places, according to Brian McGuinness, senior vice president of specialty select brands for Starwood. “From a growth perspective, conversions are rewarding because they allow us to bring the Aloft experience to fresh markets like Tucson more quickly,” he says.
