Now Open: Jekyll Island Convention Center
Jekyll Island, one of the barrier islands off the coast of Georgia, is now home to the only oceanfront convention center in the Southeast. The new 128,000-sq.-ft. LEED Silver-certified Jekyll Island Convention Center is able to host meetings of up to 4,000 people. Green efforts at the center include a solar water heating system, rainwater collection and storm water control, and low-emitting construction materials. The interior of the center has a relaxed, coastal atmosphere, and outdoor terraces allow attendees to enjoy the ocean breezes while sheltered from the elements. Along with the center, a new Beach Village is opening and two adjacent hotels are scheduled to begin construction this year.
