Richard Phillips, Campus Outreach
Financial Director
Birmingham, Alabama
Age: 29
Resume: Richard Phillips could have gone to work with his father, but the pull of Campus Outreach outweighed that of a business-based career, and he found himself being called to serve. Originally hired as an administrative assistant in 2005, he then transitioned into a position as operations director before segueing into his current role. As Phillips explains, “I’ve always been told that where you work before you’re 30 is much more about who you’re around than what you do.”
Career Highlight: He enjoys simplifying the financial statements of Campus Outreach to make them easier to read and more helpful for staff members and the board of directors.
Inspiration: “I love serving the staff, thereby freeing them up to make disciples. I’ll do anything I can to help make that happen.”
Industry Mentors: “Amy Baxter has helped me think of the bigger picture of our organization’s administration; Olan Stubbs, our director, consistently challenges me to raise the bar on my performance. And my brother, Brian Phillips, has guided me in making Biblical decisions which have put me where I am.”

Dream Speaker: Tim Keller does a great job of presenting the gospel clearly, applicably, and in a way that challenges both believers and non-believers. John Piper exudes a love and passion for the Lord and continues to maintain sincere humility even after so much ministerial success. And Mark Driscoll is one of the few pastors I know that can attract a crowd by being extremely blunt with the gospel.
Last Place You Vacationed: Charleston, S.C.
Professional Pet Peeve: Laziness
First Job: Cook at Waffle Shoppe
