Carefree Resort
Thirty miles north of Scottsdale, Ariz., located among the wildflowers and cacti of the Sonoran Desert, is the Carefree Resort and Conference Center. The town of Carefree was founded in the 1950s as a center for art and culture, and its ordinances protect the open desert, with no traffic lights, streetlights or sidewalks. The city’s relaxing atmosphere continues throughout this Southwestern property’s 234 guest rooms, suites and casitas, which include adobe-style fireplaces, whirlpool tubs, and private patios and balconies where visitors can relax while enjoying views of nearby Continental Mountain. The conference center’s 60,000 square feet of meeting space can accommodate groups from 10 to 1,000 people, and includes 17 meeting rooms and nine outdoor venues. The 10,000-sq.-ft. Saguaro Ballroom seats up to 1,000 attendees, has a built-in, rear-screen projection and can be divided into five separate rooms. Outdoor venue options include Carefree Lawn, which has natural botanical gardens and tented seating for up to 100 guests, and Stagecoach Pass, which is suited for cookouts and western-themed entertainment.
