DMAI attendees volunteer at food bank

In July, Destination Marketing Association welcomed representatives from DMOs across the country. The DMO is often the connecting point for meeting planners looking for volunteer opportunities in a host city. The convention showed the benefit of providing such projects with a service day of its own. Attendees participated in a service project at Feeding South Florida, a food bank that serves daycare centers, homeless shelters, residential homes for the physically and mentally challenged, assisted-living facilities for the elderly, youth programs, soup kitchens and emergency food pantries. Curt Cloninger makes an impression

Curt Cloninger is a storyteller. He connects with audiences, from a conference of 30,000 to a room full of college kids, through solo monologues, in which he talks about God, life and how they intersect. The actor talked with Rejuvenate about his “theatre with a lasting impression” and shared a few tips for meeting planners.

Go Corinth!

While all eyes were on movie and TV stars during award season, local fans tuned into the new video from the Corinth and Alcorn County, Miss., Tourism Promotion Council. Well worth watching, and deserving of some awards itself, the video beautifully presents the history and culture of the area, which attracts military reunions and history buffs. Watch for yourself. Better yet, visit Corinth and the surrounding area.

The Corinth Area CVB did manage to rack up awards on other accounts at the annual Governor’s Conference on Tourism at the end of February. The CVB was named “Convention Bureau of the Year” in addition to receiving three other awards.

“As far as I know, this is the first time Corinth has won CVB of the year and we’re really excited about that one,” said CVB Director Kristy White. “In fact, this is the most we’ve ever won. This was a good year for us and what really makes it wonderful is that it’s judged by our peers.”
