A new name and mobile app keep the CVB up to date.

VisitNorfolk is the new name of the Norfolk Convention and Visitors Bureau in Virginia. The name change came following the relaunch of the CVB’s website this past March. The new brand is meant to better represent the role of the CVB. VisitNorfolk is updating its marketing strategy, too, taking advantage of new technology. It recently launched three interactive games for mobile devices through “SCVNGR,” a geo-gaming platform, which consist of two walking tours and one driving tour of the Norfolk area. Players receive lists of easily solvable riddles, questions and clues leading to different locations around Norfolk. Destinations include coffee shops, restaurants and landmarks like the Chrysler Museum of Art. “This innovative, cutting-edge technology presents a unique opportunity to connect with visitors and residents in a fun way,” said Donna Allen, vice president of sales and marketing for VisitNorfolk.
