40 Under 40: David A. Carr
David A. Carr
38, Director of Sales, Tourism Santa Fe
Santa Fe, N.M.
With more than 20 years of experience in the hotel industry, Carr could consider his career a hole in one. An outdoors lover, he spends time golfing when he’s not working to fill hotel rooms and generate new group business for Santa Fe Community Convention Center. In Carr’s little more than a year with the CVB, Santa Fe’s confirmed room bookings have increased by 51 percent. The fifth-generation local uses his knowledge of the area to drive numbers. “Bringing new guests and seeing them fall in love with the many wonders here is my inspiration,” he says. Next up? Carr is working to create pilgrimage opportunities for groups to northern New Mexico, which has some of the oldest missions and churches in the United States.
