40 Under 40: Sean B. Keliiholokai, MHA, CHSP, CTA
Sean B. Keliiholokai, MHA, CHSP, CTA
30, Executive Director, Visit Dana Point
A self-described “hotel guy” who has worked for Disney, Hyatt and Marriott International, Keliiholokai set his career on the fast track when he joined the CVB in Ontario, California, more than three years ago. Becoming a sales director before age 30 is a huge accomplishment in itself, but the University of Nevada, Las Vegas grad isn’t resting on his laurels. With a five-year strategic plan in place, the CVB exceeded the previous fiscal year’s actual room night booking goal by 25 percent in 2013-14, and in 2014-15 it exceeded that goal by 11 percent, generating the highest room night production ever for the bureau. Keliiholokai then secured Jehovah’s Witnesses conventions in a five-year contract representing more than 20,000 room nights. He takes his civic responsibility seriously too, sitting as secretary of the board for a local church where he’s also the drummer on Sunday mornings.
