Connect Faith 2019 Memory Maker: Myron L. Jones

By Connect Staff, July 25, 2019

Myron L. Jones, MAOM, is director of sales for the Fayetteville Area CVB in Fayetteville, North Carolina. As a 2019 Memory Maker, Jones discusses his passion for the events industry.

What I do: I supervise a staff of two in marketing and promoting Fayetteville and Cumberland County, North Carolina, as a destination for conventions, tournaments and individual travel. My daily tasks require me to use considerable judgment and initiative in developing and implementing sales presentations, conducting sales calls and preparing proposals for groups looking to have their event in Cumberland County.

Greatest career accomplishment: I was recognized by my peers as a two-time recipient of the MPI-CC supplier of the year award and two-time recipient of the NCSGMP supplier of the year award.

Impressive stats: I helped improve our tourism expenditures by 54% over the last decade.

Specific event I am proud of helping produce: The NC Central AMEZ Church was struggling to secure sleeping rooms, meeting space and PR when I began working with them. I worked closely with the coordinators to secure the needs of the group and obtain reasonable sleeping room rates. The group is now in position to negotiate with hotels with minimum assistance from me.
