Connect Faith 2019 Memory Maker: Tim James

By Connect Staff, July 25, 2019

Tim James is a senior sales manager for Visit Rochester in Rochester, New York. As a 2019 Memory Maker, James discusses his passion for the events industry.

What I do: How I got here: I taught vocational education to adults age 18 to 50. A friend thought I should consider the tourism industry and told me about the Greater Rochester Visitors Association, which  later changed to Visit Rochester. The rest is history. I started July 2, 1990, and have enjoyed this roller coaster ride for almost 29 years.

Greatest career accomplishments: Two long-term conventions I booked that are close to my heart are the Empire Baptist Missionary Convention of New York (14 years in Rochester) and the Church of God Northeast Winterfest (15 years).

Impressive stats: I would estimate I’ve booked over a quarter-million room nights or more in faith-based business over the years. I’ve also increased the amount of multicultural convention business in Rochester by approximately 35%.
