A Connect Faith Love Story: The Davis Family

By Leigh Harper, September 15, 2017

Latricia Chisholm Davis never dreamed that her recognition as an honoree for Connect Faith’s 40 Under 40 in 2014 would lead to meeting her future husband.

She boarded a plane on Oct., 28, 2014, in Buffalo, New York, to fly to Atlanta to attend Connect Faith.

“I remember requesting the quickest direct flight, and a staff member from Connect told me he’d make sure I had the best seat on the plane,” she recalls. In hindsight, her seat couldn’t have been better—because it’s where she met Garney Davis Jr.

Though the two were from the same town in upstate New York, attended the same high school and had mutual friends, they had—remarkably—never met. They chatted on the flight and exchanged business cards upon landing, promising to stay in touch.

“We both knew the conversation on the plane was only the beginning for us,” says Chisholm Davis. She was right; they became a couple. That fateful meeting wasn’t the only significant moment the two shared on a flight, however. On Nov. 2, 2016, two years after they met, Davis Jr. proposed while they were traveling on a plane from Buffalo to Atlanta once again.

The couple married in June and are continuing in their respective careers: Chisholm Davis as the CEO and founder of Emerge, and Davis Jr. as CEO, president and pastor of Impacting Love Global Ministries. He also works at Erie County Medical Center as chief trauma chaplain and coordinates mission trips to South Africa and Uganda. On top of their individual pursuits, the couple is partnering to plan a marriage conference in 2018.
