Marriott Buys Gaylord Properties

Marriott International has completed the acquisition of Gaylord hotels. Ryman Hospitality (formerly Gaylord Entertainment Company) will continue to own the four hotels in the Gaylord brand, but the $210 million purchase gives Marriott management rights to the properties. The four properties are the Gaylord Texan near Dallas, Gaylord Palms in Kissimmee, Fla., Gaylord National in National Harbor, Md., and Gaylord Opryland Hotel, in Nashville, Tenn.

On Dec. 1, Marriott will also assume management of the Radisson Hotel Opryland in Nashville, which will then be renamed The Inn at Opryland. As a Gaylord hotel, it will be owned by Ryman Hospitality. Approximately 8,100 rooms are added to the Marriott International portfolio as a result of the transaction. Beginning in late October, each property will implement the Marriott Rewards program for guests to earn and redeem points at the hotels.
