Site Visit: Loews Chicago

By Anna Dunn, March 1, 2015

Take in views of the Windy City skyline and Lake Michigan at Loews Chicago Hotel, which opened in March 2015. The inviting lobby of the 52-story tower welcomes guests with a bar, fireplace, complimentary Wi-Fi and plenty of workspaces. Three-quarters of its 400 rooms overlook the Chicago River and Lake Michigan, as does its 9,000-sq.-ft. third-floor terrace, which Director of Sales and Marketing Erik Grazetti says is the city’s largest outdoor flexible hotel space. It can accommodate events of up to 690 people. The space will remain open year-round and includes a yoga deck and grass lawn for games like bocce ball and croquet.

Find 20,000 square feet of additional meeting space in the property’s 10 meeting rooms, two ballrooms and one boardroom. Rural Society, an Argentine steakhouse by celebrity chef Jose Garces of “Iron Chef,” serves wood-fired meats, fish and vegetables cooked on a large wood-and-charcoal-burning grill (also a source of entertainment) in the center of the restaurant. During free time, attendees can head outdoors to Millennium Park, a 15-minute walk from the hotel, and the recently opened Maggie Daley Park, which has picnic areas, climbing walls, play areas for children and an ice rink in winter. Michigan Avenue is close by for many restaurant and shopping options.
