The name of the road leading up to Lake Arrowhead, California—Rim of the World Highway—is a dead giveaway for the serene backdrop attendees will find at Lake Arrowhead Resort and Spa. Tucked within the San Bernardino National Forest about two hours from Los Angeles, Palm Springs and San Diego, this Marriott Autograph Collection resort has luxury amenities at affordable rates, says Steve Tremewan, director of sales and marketing, of which organizations like Church of God, Iglesia ni Cristo and First Assembly of God Victorville have taken advantage.
The lakefront resort, which Tremewan says offers the best rates during spring and late fall, has 162 guest rooms and 23,000 square feet of indoor/outdoor meeting space, including the Lake Arrowhead Ballroom, which can accommodate up to 400 for a reception. But the beauty lies outside at Lake Arrowhead, where staff can help planners coordinate luaus on the private beach and barbecues on Lakeside Lawn.
During downtime, attendees can catch some R&R at the on-site Spa of the Pines, which holds yoga classes on Lakeside Deck (also available for events); shop and dine at the adjacent Lake Arrowhead Village; or get active with hiking trails around the lake, ropes courses and a variety of water sports. For youth groups, the resort has movie nights; campfire s’mores on the beach during summer; and off-site activities like geocaching, ATV excursions and sledding at Snow Valley Mountain Resort, 12 miles away, during winter.
Tour the waters in the resort’s 12-seat pontoon boat, where Capt. John Richardson guides attendees across the lake while pointing out homes of celebrities including Jay Leno and Beach Boys legend Brian Wilson.
