The View From Perdido Beach Resort

The View From Perdido Beach Resort

By Matt Swenson, April 18, 2017

Look out the window in nearly any of Perdido Beach Resort’s 346 rooms and the view rivals those of Hawaii, Puerto Rico or other tropical islands. Surprise: The 32 miles of beach are in Gulf Shores & Orange Beach, Alabama.

“We defy the stereotype,” says David Cowles, a regional sales manager at the hotel. He is talking about Perdido Beach Resort, but also the region known as Gulf Shores & Orange Beach, a two-city destination bordering Pensacola, Florida.

Gulf Shores & Orange Beach is an affordable events host for groups looking for a tropical setting within the lower 48 states. That’s only the crest of the wave to get events to come.

Fine dining exists at Perdido Beach Resort, particularly if you’re part of a group eating on-site at Voyagers. But a large part of the region’s appeal is its laid-back atmosphere mixed with amenities like Orange Beach Event Center and The Wharf, a dining, retail and entertainment district (coffee lovers will want to try The Southern Grind).

It’s easy to see why religious groups like Church of Christ have met in the region—and Perdido Beach Resort—within the past year.
